DESCRIPTION:A collaboration between two dynamic and artistic individuals\, bringing a universal vibration with their music. Aaryon is best known as an international basketball player and visual artist. It turns out that he has been singing for 20 years\, starting in church. Dereck has a long history of involvement in music worldwide\, playing many genres from punk to jazz to ambient. Their paths crossed through involvement with the visual arts community in Omaha and a mutual love for music and philosophy was discovered. Aaryon chose to call the collaboration ‘The Door’ with the idea of the door being a portal\, an invitation. Also the notion that if one door closes\, another will open. Check out their first album performed live at The B Side of the Benson Theatre on Valentine’s Day! The melodious sounds of Johnna Dortch & Steven Kay Lanier will be opening acts before The Door will take the stage for a truly emotional\, dynamic performance–LOVERS & COUPLES WELCOMED!! On Friday\, February 16\, 2018\, Marvel Studios will release its movie\, Black Panther. HOACC\, in partnership with Alamo Drafthouse Cinema\, Omaha Small Business Network\, No More Empty Pots\, Eastern Nebraska Community Action Partnership\, local artists and community members\, will host a movie premiere event that provides a place to embrace and celebrate the Black Culture represented in this film. The timing of this movie release provides a great opportunity to reinforce the importance of diversity\, representation\, and resiliency in Omaha. The premier night closes with NY DJ and native Omahan Conrad Clifton\, with a special house performance. \nDoors at 11:00PM. Show until 1:00AM. \nOpen to the public\, $10 at the door.

DESCRIPTION:An intimate evening featuring St. Louis\, MO-based flamenco guitarist & composer Lliam Christy. Known for his beautifully inventive original compositions and passionate performances\, Lliam plays an intriguing mix of traditional Flamenco along with Brazilian\, Cuban Classical\, Popular and some surprises. \n[“Engaging my audience and sharing my music is what energizes and inspires me. My lifetime of studying music\, flamenco\, and music from other parts has shaped my musical voice\, my compositions and sound as a whole.” — Lliam Christy] \nAfter living in Madrid in 2013\, Lliam has been based out of Los Angeles\, CA & St Louis\, MO. As a result\, he has been involved in some great projects and collaborations including: Accompanying Pop singer Pia Toscano (American Idol)\, Morrocan Roll (a Flamenco/ Middle Eastern fusion)\, SEiX (A gypsy/fusion group with Ursula Knudson and Fabrice Martinez of Fishtank Ensemble)\, The Reventones (his own group)\, and occasionally playing with Cuban Maestro Lazaro Galarraga in Sitara Son. Most recently\, in November of 2017 and February of 2018\, Lliam performed as the featured guitarist in the play “Man of La Mancha” in San Luis Obispo\, CA under the direction of Bree Valle at Cuesta College.  \nLliam just received word that the production of “Man of La Mancha” he played in February 15th won best musical 2018 from KCACTF Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival. He also received 10 or so other awards for the production.
